On This Day - December 04, 1943.

The Commonwealth of Australia Douglas DC-2-112 VH-ADQ, being operated under charter by Australian National Airways to the A.D.A.T. crashed in very poor weather and darkness at Bendigo East, Victoria, whilst undertaking the scheduled Brisbane - Sydney - Melbourne service. The First Officer was killed instantly when the starboard side cockpit struck a tree. The damaged aircraft was transferred back to the R.A.A.F. in February 1944 and sold back to A.N.A. for parts. However on inspection it was determined that the aircraft could be rebuilt and returned to operational status, which it was.

On This Day - December 04, 1961.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBE 'City of Perth' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having completed its ferry flight from the United States (Seattle, Renton) where it had been converted by Boeing to the Boeing 707-138B standard, which included a revised livery that was applied to the aircraft in Sydney over the next 3 days.

On This Day - December 04, 1966.

The Ansett-A.N.A. Fokker F.27-2087 Friendship VH-FNL operated the final Queensland Airlines' passenger service, as Flight AN627 from Rockhampton - Bundaberg - Maryborough - Brisbane. On engine shut-down at Brisbane, Queensland Airlines ceased to exist.

The ex-Qantas Airways Boeing 747-238B VH-EBC, now owned by the Boeing Equipment Holding Company and reregistered as N747BM, was ferried from Auckland (New Zealand) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith) as Flight BOE747 for storage. On engine shut-down at Sydney this aircraft had flown 42,570 hours with 15,688 cycles.

The Freedom Air International Boeing 757-204 G-BYAF, leased from Britannia Airways Limited, arrived in New Zealand (Hamilton) having completed its delivery flight from the United Kingdom (London, Luton).

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747-238B VH-EBQ was rolled-out at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) in the Air Pacific livery. The aircraft was named 'Island of Vanua Levu', and re-registered as DQ-FJI.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-336ER VH-ZXE operated its last revenue service, operating Flight QF494 from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was then withdrawn from service, being the last ex British Airways Rolls-Royce powered Boeing 767 in the Qantas fleet.
