On This Day - May 05, 1944. The hapless Australian National Airways Douglas DC-2-112 VH-ADQ was subjected to a complete C of A inspection, following its latest crash on April 25 when it made a forced landing at Bonnie Vale, 30 km west of Kalgoorlie (Western Australia) due to the fuel-tank selector failing. Having passed this inspection, a new Certificate of Registration was issue and the aircraft was reregistered as VH-AEN. The aircraft was also named 'Mungana. It was then primarily utilised on the A.N.A. route Melbourne - Adelaide - Ceduna - Forrest - Kalgoorlie - Perth. |
